Story of a Quilt - in pictures

This is the king size quilt I made for my adult son.  He is a musician at heart and so when I found this quirky "Concerto" fabric range it was obviously perfect for him.

I thought it would be fun to show the story of his quillt in pictures, as it progressed.  As I work on a domestic sewing machine rather than a long arm machine, I work in several panels before joining them together and finally binding the quilt as a whole.

For this quilt there were many firsts - first king size quilt, first use of both the Dresden Plate and Trellis designs and first use of machine embroidery.  Each panel was quilted in a different design and each diagonal strip of the central Trellis panel was embroidered with a different stitch.

I worked on this over several months and it took approximately 60 hours to complete.  A smaller 6' x 6' quilt recently completed took 35.5 hours.  The number of hours very much depends on the design and size of the quilt, but most things are certainly possible!
